Dear Church Family and Friends,
On Sunday, September 22nd at 10am we will meet in the RCC church building instead of at Schillinger’s home to worship and wait upon the Lord and to look into the Word of God together. We also will have fellowship meal together following the service. Please bring food to share with others. I am really looking forward to gathering for this monthly worship event! Please feel free to invite others to come and join with us for this time of worship, waiting and focus on the Word and mutual ministry.
For the last two weeks our church has been meeting in homes primarily. The Men’s group met on Thursday at 6:30pm at Quesenberry’s. The Daytimers group meets tomorrow (Tuesday at 12:30pm) at Martin’s home. The women’s group meets this coming Wednesday at 7:00pm at Quesenberry’s. If you would like to attach to a home group please reply to this email or contact Arlin Martin – (434) 531-5968 about Daytimers group. Carol Quesenberry – (434) 760-0009 about Women’s Group or Jon Quesenberry (me) (4340 760-2100 about Men’s group.
This past Thursday, the financial advisory team met to complete the evaluation of all the assets in the church building at RCC. I want to thank Jean Marie and Clayton Shumate and Sarah Mcgahee for their sacrifice in compiling a complete list of all the assets in the building. In a week the financial advisory team will have the finalized list of assets in hand. Once we have this, we will begin the process of selling and distributing these assets to other RNI network ministries.
Our process in distribution of these ministry assets will be as follows:
- Taking inventory of all physical assets of RCC – COMPLETED
- Ascribing values to all assets in the church building – COMPLETED
- Making RCC assets available to RNI constituency churches to purchase – IN PROCESS (Sept-October)
- Making RCC assets available to local and related churches – NEXT (October – November)
- Making RCC assets available to members – (November – December)
- Removing all items from the building by sale or disposal – (December- January)
The goal of this process is to assure that all RCC assets that were purchased and/or used for ministry and kingdom building remain in use for the ministry and kingdom building. We want to make these ministry assets available to church and church plants within the network first, then to other related and area ministries. After this, the ministry assets of the church will be made available to RCC church members.
It is has been quite different meeting in small groups and not on Sunday mornings. Not having use of the building and not meeting on Sunday morning gathering means that it takes a lot more effort and sacrifice to be the church – gathering in homes. I admit that I am feeling a huge sense of loss. I am seeking God for comfort and direction. I know that several of you also have expressed this too. I want to encourage each one of you to follow the calling of scripture not to stop meeting.. but continue to engage in small group relationships and continue to be the church, gathering and ministering to one other.
Other updates: The facebook page has been edited to reflect our current structure. The website will be edited in the next two weeks.
I will continue to send out a newsletter every other week or when we have important group events. Please continue to contact me with any pastoral needs, prayer requests and/or updates for this newsletter.
