The Battlefield of the Mind Series

Dear Church Family and Friends, This coming Sunday we begin a new sermon series on the Battlefield of the Mind. The Bible talks a lot about the mind and how we use our minds to live a victorious Christian life. For example: “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Cor 10:5) Did you know that the Bible describes how to overcome by means of “taking thoughts captive” and how to have a healthy thought life that leads to peace and godliness? The Bible describes strongholds of the mind and how to tear down the strongholds that the enemy uses to derail our lives and ministry. This four week series on the Battlefield of the Mind will begin this coming Sunday! We will meet to encounter God in worship and then open the Word of God to learn how to walk in victory in the midst of the battle as it rages on! We will be preparing for Faith Promise this coming Sunday. What is Faith Promise? Faith Promise is the way that we support our missionaries. Restoration Cornerstone Church supports dozens of missionaries all over the world. Faith Promise follows a scriptural plan of giving based on the apostolic method outlined in I Corinthians 16:1-2, II Corinthians 8:1-5; 8:10 and 9:7-10. It is an agreement that, as God provides, a believer will give a specific amount as a one time, monthly or each week to the missionary offering. Faith Promise allows for trust in the blessing and provision of God, and for the support of world missions. The focus of our Faith Promise giving is the Mitchells in Mexico. In planning what support we can raise for our missionaries, we don’t set aside a portion of the budget. Instead, our missions giving is set by each person’s discernment from the Lord. This coming Sunday, you will be given a faith promise card. As you pray and seek the Lord about what your faith promise will be the Lord will guide you regarding what to give. Once you discern what the Lord is saying, you will write down your faith promise and the totals will be determined. Each week or monthly, you will give as the Lord provides for your Faith Promise. It is important to remember that your faith promise should be kept in mind so that when God provides resources to give to faith promise that this is done on a regular basis. Missionaries will depend on what you give in obedience to the Lord. More on Sunday On Sunday October 7th we will be having our Faith Promise Sunday and fellowship meal. Please plan to bring a dish or two to share with others and plan to stay after the service for a time of friendship and fellowship! On that Sunday we will be collecting collecting our Faith Promise Cards. I will be passing out our faith promise cards this coming Sunday so that you can begin the process of discerning your Faith Promise for the coming year. The Charlottesville Pregnancy Center Banquet is coming in October (October 13 & 14.) We are looking for someone who would be willing to sponsor a table for our congregation. Please let me know if you would like to sponsor a table for RCC. See you Sunday!
